MARKETING NEWS

NEW META AD FEATURES, INCLUDING CUSTOMIZABLE BUDGET SCHEDULING

You don’t need to manually adjust your daily budget on days you anticipate higher sales. Starting October, you can use a Budget scheduling feature instead. Also, Promotional ads—which make it easier for people to apply your promo codes, Reminder ads, and Shops ads are all expanding to more advertisers.

YOU CAN NOW SEARCH LINKEDIN TO FIND POSTS BY CREATORS PARTNERED WITH BRANDS

The Brand Partnerships Search lets you discover content made by creators who partnered with a brand for that post. You can search using keywords. But I like how there’s a feed you can scroll through if you just want general inspiration. Meta recently made a feature like this too. And TikTok has one as well.

GOOGLE UPDATED THEIR HELPFUL CONTENT GUIDE

Google’s Helpful Content system works alongside other “systems” to rank search results. The updates to the Helpful content guide fall into three categories:

  1. Google recognizing that helpful content can be generated with AI (and reviewed by people)
  2. Guidelines/warnings about hosting third-party content on your site
  3. Advice on how to recover if you lose traffic after a helpful content update

YOUTUBE HAS A NEW AI-POWERED FEATURE: CREATIVE GUIDANCE IN GOOGLE ADS

Creative guidance tells advertisers when their ads aren’t meeting one of these best practices:

  1. Showing a brand logo in first five seconds
  2. Including voiceover
  3. Video length matching your marketing objective
  4. Ad group includes at least one square, one horizontal, and one vertical aspect video

TIKTOK INCLUDES WIKIPEDIA SNIPPETS IN SOME SEARCH RESULTS

The Verge found Wikipedia snippets in TikTok’s search results for keywords like The New York Times, Taylor Swift, and Thanksgiving. Seems like another step TikTok is making towards a more robust search feature, which—if you haven’t heard—more and more people are choosing over Google.

TIKTOK SHOP LAUNCHED IN US AND COMES WITH BIG DISCOUNTS HOLIDAY SEASON

TikTok Shop lets people browse and buy products directly in the app, instead of going to businesses’ websites. To get a piece of the spending pie that Prime Day and Black Friday have been devouring, TikTok is encouraging sellers to apply significant discounts on their TikTok shop products and TikTok will pay sellers the difference.

PINTEREST INTRODUCES BUSINESS MANAGER, NEW AD FORMATS, AND COLLAGE FEATURE

Pinterest announced two new ad formats, a Business Manager, Creative Studio, and a lot more updates this week. Their new collage feature should be exciting and promote engagement. It will let people cut images out of a pin and paste them into a collage. To take advantage of this feature (which will roll out soon), Pinterest recommends updating your brand’s catalog.
